Instructions

Make panna cotta

  1. Prepare Gelatin Mixture

Add water and gelatin to a small bowl and mix well. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes to bloom.

  2. Heat Cream Mixture

In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla essence. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves completely.

  3. Add agar

Now add the agar mixture and stir over medium heat until completely dissolved. Be careful not to let it boil.

  4. Strain the mixture

Remove the panna mixture from the flame and filter it through a sieve, so that there are no lumps.

  5. Pour into preferred Molds

Lightly grease your desired molds or ramekins with neutral oil or cooking spray. Pour the panna cotta mixture into the molds, filling them almost to the top.

  6. Chill

Cover the molds with plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm, at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.

Serve

  1. Once the panna cotta has been set, carefully run a knife around the edges of each mold to loosen the dessert. Place a plate on top of each mold and turn to release the panna cotta on the plate.
Drizzle with raspberry coulis and serve chilled.

Frequently Asked Questions

Expand All:
How long does panna cotta last?

Panna cotta typically lasts for about 3 to 4 days when stored properly in the refrigerator. It's best to consume it within this timeframe to enjoy its optimal flavor and texture.

How do you thicken panna cotta?

To thicken panna cotta, increase the amount of gelatin used in the recipe or cook the cream mixture for a longer period to reduce its volume and concentrate the flavors, resulting in a thicker texture.

What happens if you put too much gelatin in panna cotta?

If you put too much gelatin in panna cotta, it will result in a firmer and denser texture than desired, potentially leading to a rubbery consistency rather than the creamy and smooth texture characteristic of traditional panna cotta.

Can I set panna cotta in freezer?

Yes, you can set panna cotta in the freezer, but it's not the ideal method. Freezing can alter the texture and compromise the creaminess of the dessert. It's best to set panna cotta in the refrigerator for optimal results.

Does panna cotta have alcohol?

Traditional panna cotta does not typically contain alcohol in its base ingredients. It is a creamy Italian dessert made primarily with cream, sugar, and gelatin, often flavored with vanilla.
